Water Tank Library
Water tanks, once vital urban infrastructure, can find new life through adaptive reuse. Their transformation requires careful disassembly based on spatial constraints:
- If sufficient space is available, the tower is tipped over and dismantled.
- With limited space, a crane deconstructs the structure in parts.
- In both cases, the parts are loaded onto a truck and taken to a local salvage yard.
The WTLibrary repurposes ten municipal water tanks into an urban library. The tanks are carefully arranged to fit the lot, slivered along the edges to introduce light and city views, and elevated to create a public space beneath.
