LOT-EK’s ART HUB for the Whitney Museum envisions a vibrant, accessible space designed as a “public square” for art-making, gathering, and community interaction. Six modular units form the heart of this flexible installation, creating indoor-outdoor spaces that blend seamlessly with a central plaza—a lively, permeable space open to all. A 360-degree second-level balcony, accessible via a signature ADA-compliant ramp, invites visitors to enjoy city views and feel immersed in this “theater in the round.” Through upcycled shipping containers, ART HUB celebrates the beauty of sustainable design, preserving the embodied energy and history within each unit. This long-term temporary structure offers a dynamic venue for New Yorkers to engage with art, echoing the Whitney Museum’s commitment to making art accessible to diverse communities across the city.
