concept & vision
a 19-story concrete structure for contemporary art galleries, one per floor.
architecture & design
a simple concrete structure offers undivided, open flexible space for exhibition. Two rows of containers are inserted in this structure to house onsite storage, mechanical, and bathrooms
program & use
both front and back elevations are enclosed with a light floor-to-ceiling metal framing that supports glazing on the outside and a system of removable wall panels on the inside, so that each gallery can set the appropriate opaque/transparent ratio and wall surface to regulate incoming sunlight and respond to surface exhibition needs
impact & significance
we propose a simple infrastructure as an early concept for Chelsea's transformation into a contemporary art area
