WE START WITH THE THINGS WE FIND
Full Circle is full of life, integrating nature, sociality, and technology

concept & vision
we celebrate the site as a marker at the natural crossroad of the Guadalupe River and Los Gatos Creek in San Jose, California, a natural site in the midst of our west coast tech world, collaborating with SURFACE DESIGN, a landscape architecture studio based in the Bay area
design & architecture
our structure of 1500 containers touches the ground lightly to allow the flow of air, water, birds and people. It's an open frame, a scaffold and a marker of a special site, graphic yet densely active
program & use
neither building nor nature, all of Full Circle is integrated with nature and human nature alike: from rookeries for migratory birds, to playful inhabitable landscapes, to landings and lookouts for families, friends, visitors, to plants, trees, insects. And then technology, in collaboration with SUPERBIEN, a studio that specializes in immersive technological experiences, here proposing low technology, or a deliberately low-res 1,500-pixel screen (each container end is one pixel) harvesting and broadcasting patterns of movement from birds, water reflections, leaves, life
impact & significance
we celebrate both nature and invention to make space for all kinds of lives. We think of Full Circle as an archeology, the remains of an almost obsolete infrastructure (the shipping container) here used in relevant amounts and through a fluid, open-ended use
