concept & vision
we design the park's public service buildings to interact with the pristine natural surroundings though versatile, functional spaces made within cut and reconfigured repurposed containers.
design & architecture
the containers are joined, mirrored, tilted, and combined to house various programs, organizing the park in three distinct, color-coded areas, integrated into the landscape and its topography
program & use
in orange and blue, the gate building and market street at the entrance. The Pavilion, a gate with turnstiles below and offices, ticket area and information center above, is visible from the main roadway to the park. It provides access to Market Street, occupied by shops, cafes, service areas and restrooms, with pergolas, double levels and upper decks to connect to the surrounding landscape. The yellow and blue area of the Restaurant Plaza is on the park’s hill, overlooking the river below with outdoor terrace and an open amphitheater, and a tilted container for a zip-line. By the water, the blue Aquatic Pier provides lake access. Modular units are combined around a shaded cluster with changing areas and cafes, storage for kayaks, and to a floating pier for water sports
impact & significance
an intervention in a pristine natural setting to provide the social framework for an outdoor experience
