concept & vision
TV-lite is a modular television lighting system that exploits the intermittent quality of television light
design & architecture
we strip a TV to its bare tube, expose its electronic landscape, and support it with four metal rods. This is the base module. Couplings combine modules in order to repeat them both vertically and horizontally for long lines of flickering light
impact & significance
walking at night, we notice the bluish moving light in rooms of apartment buildings, and test using that same light quality stripped of its content and sound. We repurpose CRT/cathode ray tube TVs, on the verge of their disappearance, exploring and exposing their inner workings and mechanisms and testing an early, pre-LED idea of moving light
