concept & vision
a 'spacer band' is a steel ring at the core of flat-bed trucks' wheels that routinely needs replacing. We encountered a pile of them on a visit to our NJ container fabricator, loved their shape, simplicity, and wear, and pulled them out of a dumpster. An entire 5-meter LED strip takes different circuitous paths in each spacer band, cast in natural-color rubber

impact & significance
we discover and reimagine a simple industrial leftover, and let this object guide us to make a different kind of light fixture, one that sits on the floor with no base, a wheel of light
